Simon has a master’s degree in Human Security from Aarhus University. He holds a bachelor degree in Governance and Public Policy (Staatswissenschaften) from the University of Erfurt, Germany, where he wrote his thesis on the peacebuilding process in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Corresponding to that, his main research interests are post-conflict peacebuilding, the proliferation of small arms and light weapons as well as agro-ecological agriculture.

In the Land and Trust project, Simon will work on land disputes and look into their mediation by NGOs. Mediation of land disputes by NGOs is a rather new phenomenon and therefore not well researched. He tries to explore factors contributing to the settlement of land disputes.
